What Is The Best Aftercare?

The Bandage:
MadRabbit

Keep it Clean:
After removing your bandage/wrap, wash your tattoo thoroughly using fragrance-free soap (e.g. Dial Gold Antibacterial soap) and warm water to remove any excess blood, ink, or plasma. Make sure your hands are clean prior to touching your fresh tattoo. Once clean, pat dry with a clean paper towel. Continue this process until the tattoo is fully healed.

Moisturize:
Apply a SMALL amount of lotion to your tattoo ONLY when its feeling a little dry. We recommend using cocoa butter, Tatty Stick, or any other non-fragrance lotion.

What to Avoid:
DO NOT pick or scratch your healing tattoo!

DO NOT expose your tattoo to intense sunlight and do not apply any sun lotion until the healing process is complete.

DO NOT submerge your tattoo in water for about 2 weeks! Stick to short showers until your skin has fully healed.

Once it’s Healed:
When your new tattoo is finally healed and ready for the world, be sure to keep it well protected from the sun and ensure that you continue to moisturize the area regularly. Healthy skin means a healthy looking tattoo!

How Long Is The Wait Time?

Wait time is determined by many variables such as size, prep, and artist availability. We do accept walk-ins, but openings are not guaranteed. You can shoot us a message, stop in, or give us a call at 815-304-5426. Busier artists could be a month or more out.

Do You Take Walk-ins?

Can We Get Matching Tattoos Together?

You sure can!  In these cases, only one person would need to fill out the form.  Just mention that it is for 2!

Do I Need A Consultation?

Depending on your tattoo, we may require a consultation before your actual tattoo date. This will help ensure that you and your Artist are on the same page before a drawing is done and the date of your tattoo approaches.

Please be prepared for your consultation. Being prepared means bringing any reference material you may have (printed out) of your ideas, and images you like that have a similar “style” that you are looking to get.

Do I Need To Make A Deposit?

YES! All of our artists require a $100 ($20 for apprentice) non-refundable deposit to secure your appointment.

What Ways Can I Pay?

We accept cash, card, and tap! No checks.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

We require 48 hours notice to reschedule your appointment. Any shorter time may result in loss of deposit. You can reschedule once without losing your deposit, a second reschedule will require another deposit. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. Your deposit is good for one year (ie. if you cancel an appointment and don’t reschedule within a year of the date of the deposit, then the deposit is forfeited).

If you are over 20 minutes late, we will consider you a no show and you will lose your deposit.

What Do I Need To Bring With Me?

It is important to be prepared for your appointment. Please bring or wear clothing that makes the tattoo area accessible. We also recommend you bring snacks (for longer appointments), water, and possibly headphones if you prefer.

Please remember if you are using numbing cream to apply prior to your appointment.

What Should I Not Bring With Me?

Please do not bring your children to your appointment. Guests are welcomed, but only one is to be let back into the tattoo area at a time. Guests will be expected to respect the shop and the rules, if they do not they will be asked to leave.

Can I Bring Inspiration Designs?

We would be happy to take the concept of the tattoo you like and do something customized for you – we will not copy an exact design. Please do not reach out to us with the intent of having someone else design your tattoo. We are stoked that your 14 year old niece loves to draw, but please leave the tattoo to the professionals.

Should I Eat Before?

Yes! Eat plenty of protein and come well hydrated. Getting tattooed releases endorphins – on an empty stomach, these endorphins can lead to nausea. Light-headedness also can occur, so it is good to have your blood sugar up prior to getting tattooed.

Can You Do Cover Ups?

Usually, yes. In most cases, you will need an in person consultation so your Artist can see what needs to be covered up or re-worked and can advise you on your options. Be prepared though, some tattoos are not easily covered up and we may suggest laser removal before the cover up process can begin. Your Artist will let you know if what you have is workable.
